tired of the acne!

When puberty started, the skin problems started. It was horrible. Well, it could have been worse, I suppose, but I was horrified.
I went to a dermatologist and was prescribed Retin A Micro. It was painful. My skin felt paper thin, actually it was thinner than paper. And so red. Beauty is pain but OH MY GOODNESS it was not worth it.
So I gave that up after a month or two and I tried everything else that I could find in the drug store. All those face scrubs and pore strips and toners and moisturizers seemed to work a little, but my skin would go right back to breaking out a month later. So, I kinda just dealt with it and used full coverage makeup.
My sister used Proactiv and I decided to give it a try in the shower. It felt nice, but the toner and moisturizer didn't seem to really do much, but I did notice that my acne had calmed down and my breakouts weren't so frequent.

About a year and half ago, I decided to go a different route. I started experimenting with natural products. After lots of trial and errors, this is what has significantly helped me out...

1. I still wash my face with the Proactiv face wash- it has really made my skin softer.
2. As a toner, I use diluted Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV). ACV is packed with amino acids and alpha-hydroxy and has made my skin WAY less greasy.
3. I spot treat with plain ol' 3% Hydrogen Peroxide. Soak a Qtip in it and hold it on the blemish for about 10 seconds. I don't recommend using it all over the face; it can be too drying.
4. A Perfect World moisturizer by Origins is pretty good. It doesn't leave me greasy. I'm not in love with it, but it does a good job.

I would looooove to have a totally natural skin regime, but haven't found anything perfect for me, yet.

If you have acne and want to experiment with natural cures, a great forum is here at acne.org

Do you use the natural skin care approach??
